We are looking for long-term buyers who want a direct, transparent relationship with a founder-led company serious about quality.
Bosaso sits at the confluence of the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean — one of the most biologically productive marine zones on earth. These waters have fed trade routes for a thousand years. We are bringing their finest produce to the world.
Whether you're a Gulf importer, an Asian distributor, or a European buyer — Blue Horn Fisheries is ready to supply you with premium, traceable, Halal-certified frozen seafood directly from Bosaso.
Blue Horn Fisheries was founded by two brothers — Mohamed Abdullah and Ahmed Abdullah — both Somali diaspora who returned to Bosaso, Puntland with a single, driving conviction: the Indian Ocean off the Horn of Africa produces some of the finest seafood on earth, and the world deserves to experience it at the absolute highest standard.
This is not a story about family fishing heritage passed through generations. This is a story about two professionals who looked at what their waters were capable of producing, looked at the quality gap between what was leaving Bosaso and what premium global markets demand, and decided to close that gap entirely.
With backgrounds spanning procurement strategy, financial analysis, infrastructure development, and international logistics, Mohamed and Ahmed bring a rare combination of commercial rigour and genuine passion for what these waters can offer. They built Blue Horn Fisheries from the ground up — from facility design to export documentation, from supplier relationships to buyer terms — with one non-negotiable standard: every box that leaves under the Blue Horn name must be excellent.
"We didn't come back to build another export business. We came to show the world what these waters have always been capable of — and to do it with the standards and integrity the global market deserves."
— Mohamed & Ahmed Abdullah, Co-FoundersBlue Horn Fisheries is a company built for the long term. We are not chasing volume. We are building a brand that stands for quality, traceability, and a genuine commitment to the sustainable development of Puntland's extraordinary marine resources.
Mohamed leads operations, supplier relationships, and export strategy at Blue Horn Fisheries. His deep expertise in procurement and international logistics — honed across complex commercial environments — gives Blue Horn its operational precision. His return to Bosaso is a deliberate, long-term commitment to building something that transforms how the world perceives Somali seafood. Every supplier relationship, every vessel contract, every shipment that leaves port passes through his direct oversight.
Ahmed brings the financial discipline and infrastructure thinking that gives Blue Horn Fisheries its commercial backbone. His background in financial analysis, infrastructure development, and business strategy means the company is built with the rigour of an institution and the agility of a founder-led business. He manages the commercial relationships, buyer terms, financial operations, and the company's long-term expansion roadmap — ensuring Blue Horn grows without ever compromising the quality it was founded upon.
The Horn of Africa coastline has been one of the world's most important fishing and maritime trade zones for over a thousand years. Arab, Indian, and East African traders navigated these waters for centuries, drawn by extraordinary marine abundance.
Today, Somalia holds one of the longest coastlines in continental Africa — over 3,300 kilometres of largely unfished, wild ocean. The waters off Bosaso sit at the confluence of the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, producing exceptional biodiversity and year-round populations of premium species that rival any fishing ground on earth.
Monsoon-driven upwellings bring deep-ocean nutrients to the surface, creating exceptional concentrations of baitfish and the premium pelagic species that follow them.
Untouched rocky reef systems support thriving lobster and grouper populations that have seen minimal industrial fishing pressure.
Bosaso Port sits on one of the world's busiest maritime corridors — natural freight advantages for Gulf, Asian, and European routes.
All Blue Horn products are 100% wild-caught from the Indian Ocean off Bosaso. No aquaculture. No compromise on flavour, texture, or quality. Each species is handled, graded, blast-frozen, and packed to international export standards — with full traceability documentation included in every shipment.

At Blue Horn Fisheries, we believe quality is not something you add at the end — it is something you protect from the very beginning. Our operations are engineered around one principle: the fish that arrives at your facility must be in precisely the same condition it was in when it left the Indian Ocean.
Our processing facility is positioned directly adjacent to Bosaso Port — deliberately. This eliminates the transit delays that compromise lesser operations. The journey from ocean surface to blast freezer is measured in hours, not days.
Every step is documented, every temperature is logged, every lot is traceable. This is not bureaucracy — it is the foundation of the trust we are building with every buyer we work with.
Our partner vessels operate in designated Indian Ocean fishing zones under strict species and handling protocols. Every vessel is vetted, registered, and operates under Blue Horn supply agreements with quality accountability built in from the start.
Immediately upon landing aboard, fish are packed in ice. Vessel holds are maintained at near-zero temperatures for the entire duration of every trip. This is non-negotiable — the icing protocol begins the moment the fish clears the water.
Our processing facility sits immediately adjacent to Bosaso Port waterfront. Catch is transferred directly upon vessel arrival, eliminating all road transport delays. From ocean to processing floor in minutes — not hours.
On the processing floor, every fish is manually inspected and graded against our export specifications. Only product meeting our standard proceeds. Species are then processed into the required format — whole, H&G, fillet, steak — under strict hygiene protocols.
Product is blast-frozen within hours of landing — halting all microbial activity and locking in flavour, texture, colour, and nutritional integrity at absolute peak quality. IQF (individually quick frozen) and block frozen formats are both available.
Frozen product is packed to specification with full traceability labelling: vessel name, fishing zone, species, catch date, processing date, and lot number. Stored at −18°C until reefer container loading. Temperature is monitored and logged from pallet to destination port.
Our facility is purpose-built for premium export-grade processing. Located immediately adjacent to Bosaso Port to eliminate transfer time between vessel and blast freezer. Designed with food safety, efficiency, and traceability as core operational principles.
Blue Horn manages the full export logistics chain — reefer container booking, pre-cooling, loading supervision, export health certificates, certificates of origin, packing lists, and all documentation required for customs clearance into Gulf, Asian, and European markets. Trial LCL shipments available before FCL commitment.
From the co-founders down, Blue Horn Fisheries is built on one non-negotiable principle: the product that arrives at your facility must be exactly what we say it is, in exactly the condition we promise.
We operate to international food safety principles today — whether or not every certification is yet on the wall. Our certifications are a journey we are actively progressing, not a box-ticking exercise.
We welcome third-party inspection on every shipment. We have nothing to hide — and everything to prove.
All Blue Horn products are Halal certified — fully compliant for import across the GCC, Middle East, and Muslim-majority markets globally. Halal protocols are followed at every stage of processing.
Active CertificationWe are actively working toward full HACCP certification. Our facility design, process controls, temperature management, and documentation are already aligned with HACCP principles. Accreditation is a near-term milestone.
Certification in ProgressFull export health certificates, certificates of origin, packing lists, and all customs documentation for Gulf, Asian, and European markets included with every shipment.
Available on All ShipmentsPre-shipment third-party quality inspection is available and actively encouraged. Buyers may appoint their own inspector. We welcome the scrutiny — it reinforces the trust we are building.

The Indian Ocean off the Horn of Africa has fed civilisations for millennia. Our responsibility as an exporter is to ensure that the same waters that supply us today can supply future generations. Sustainability at Blue Horn Fisheries is a founding principle — not a marketing claim.
Every product we sell comes with documentation that tells the full story of where it came from. Traceability is not paperwork to us. It is the foundation of the trust we are building with every buyer, and the commitment we are making to every fisherman whose catch we purchase.
We are a young company with a long vision. These waters are extraordinary. Our job is to keep them that way.
No aquaculture. Every product is wild-caught from natural ocean environments — delivering the exceptional flavour and nutrition only wild fish can provide.
Records traceable to the individual vessel, captain, fishing zone, and catch date for every single lot we process. Unbroken chain of custody from ocean surface to your incoming goods inspection.
We work exclusively with vetted artisanal fishing operators. Blue Horn will not purchase or export product sourced through practices that compromise the long-term health of the ecosystem.
We are built in, and for, the Bosaso fishing community — creating stable, fairly-priced demand for local fishermen and a direct incentive to fish sustainably and report accurately.
We invest continuously in systems and processes that raise standards — digital traceability tools, improved cold chain monitoring, expanded processing capability, and new value-added development.
Halal active. HACCP in progress. A clear certification roadmap makes Blue Horn an increasingly bankable long-term supplier for buyers with rigorous compliance requirements.
Blue Horn Fisheries currently exports to buyers across the Gulf Cooperation Council — markets with deep cultural affinity for premium seafood and strong demand for consistently high-quality supply. The GCC is our home market, and we are building it with the depth and long-term relationships it deserves.
Our next phase of expansion targets Asia Pacific and key European markets — drawing on our founders' international business experience and Bosaso's natural logistical advantage on the Gulf of Aden shipping corridor.
Bosaso Port sits on the Gulf of Aden — one of the world's busiest maritime trade routes. This gives Blue Horn Fisheries natural freight cost and speed advantages for shipments to the Gulf (24–48hrs), Asia (5–12 days), and Europe (12–18 days via Suez).
Blue Horn Fisheries is not built for spot sales. We are looking for importers, distributors, and food service buyers who want to build something lasting with us — a consistent supply relationship grounded in trust, quality, and mutual commercial growth.
If you want a direct relationship with a founder-led business that treats every shipment as a statement of its values, we want to hear from you. Trial LCL shipments are available before any FCL commitment.
Whether you're a Gulf importer evaluating a new supplier, an Asian distributor exploring Indian Ocean seafood, or a European buyer looking for a traceable, Halal-certified source — our founders respond personally to every serious enquiry.
